The Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery – Phlebology and Lymphology – called Vascular Center North-West – is an interdisciplinary vascular center which has been certified for more than 10 years by the German Society of Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine (Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Gefaesschirurgie und Gefaessmedizin, DGG).
As a vascular center, we address all arterial, venous and lymphatic diseases. At the Rheine location, we offer different consultation hours for the different sections; on an inpatient ward with 40 beds, we offer the complete spectrum of arterial and venous vascular surgery. The unit for acute lymphatic diseases with 20 beds is located at the Pius hospital in the nearby town of Ochtrup. We are very proud to also be able to operate an affiliated college of health professions.
The emphasis of our work in Rheine is placed on aortic surgery including interventional procedures on the visceral arteries as well as both open and interventional treatment of carotid stenoses and peripheral artery occlusive diseases, including diabetic foot syndrome.
At the Vein Center, the emphasis of our work is placed on highly modern varices surgery, including endoluminal procedures which can be performed on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. A particular focus in this field is on the treatment of treatment-resistant ulcus cruris which is performed multimodal. Furthermore, we also emphasize interventional methods for the recanalization of acute and chronic venous thromboses, including lysis and stent treatment of arms and legs. A particular emphasis in this field is the surgical treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome.
