The patient stands at the very center of our attention at the Department of ORL-HNS (University of Heidelberg). A team of highly qualified ENT-specialists, nursing staff, medical-technical assistants, speech therapists and psychologists who can rely on a clinic equipped with state-of-the-art technology ensure optimum patient care.
This includes intra-operative CT and MRI imaging, assisted navigation for minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery and various laser systems, for example for organ-preserving tumor treatment.
The main focus of the ENT clinic is restoration of hearing. With more than one thousand middle ear operations per year, we have a wealth of experience in treating chronic middle ear inflammations, otosclerosis malformation and hearing restoration using cochlea implants and additional implantable hearing devices.
Children and infants with congenital deafness as well as adults with severe hearing loss can be treated with various hearing systems, some of which can be fully implanted.
Various special consultations (plastic and cosmetic surgery, hearing enhancement, allergy, oncology, skull base surgery, voice and speech rehabilitation), innovative forms of therapy, or special techniques are used, depending on symptoms.
Through close cooperation with the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) and with researchers of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), we ensure that the latest knowledge developed through tumor research plays a part in our patients’ individual therapies, especially in cancer cases.
